My name is Kati and I'm a special education teacher in Finland. My school, Veikkolan koulu, is a comprehensice school and includes the graders from one to nine. I'm one of three of the special education teachers in my school, who take care of those students who have learning or behavioral difficulties. My students come from all grades, and my subjects are mainly Finnish, English, Swedish, Maths, History, Geography...

One word thet describes me is inspirational.

My strenght is enthusiasm but I need to learn more patience :) I have icthy feet.

A great classroom is where we all learn from each other, give tuition and encourage to all to learn something new in a Discomfort Zone. Learning is hard work, you have to learn to use your brains.

In February 2016 I was in Utah with a small Finnish group. There has been quite a many GEA visitors at out school during the last 6 years, and I've been one of the hosts.

I love hiking, trekking, bush walking - outdoors in many ways. My favorite adventures are all those I have been hiking around the globe, from Scandinavia to New Zealand via USA. And while I'm not hikling, I'm knitting...

See you in Finland!

Kati Karjalainen-Rimppi
