SCANDINAVIA
AUGUST 2020
FINLAND: The Country of Educational Innovation
Global Education Allies invites all interested educators to Finland to explore the educational system that has astounded many with its top performing scores, yet boasts an approach to schooling that some call “unorthodox” with its high level of trust, no standardized tests until age 18, shorter school days and minimal pressure to perform. The Finnish school system has been in the limelight ever since the first results of the PISA surveys (conducted every three years by the OECD) put Finland at or near the top in reading, math and science -- right next to the Asian super achievers. This educational excursion will give participants an inside look and the chance to observe the Finnish education system on many levels, ask questions of experts and make connections with local K-12 educators and administrators.
