Welcome to the Global Education Allies communication portal! You can now connect with a slowly growing number of educators everywhere. We hope you share your ideas and questions and even collaborate on projects.

How do I log into the Global Education Allies chat channel?

The GEA chat channel has been built inside a communication platform called Discord. The link to access our GEA Discussion channel can be found here: https://discord.gg/ufV6sCQbe4 Some of you may know this tool already. For those of you who are less familiar with it, please scroll to the bottom of the page to find detailed instructions on how to access our server, with pictures!

May I ask questions from other educators?

We have provided 5 discussion groups with general topics to help you choose the group that most closely aligns with your question. The “general discussion” group serves as the discussion group for anything not listed in other groups.

You can navigate to the different channels on the left to publish your first question/comment. If you need guidance you may send a message to one of the GEA admin or staff members. Look out for our teacher collaboration fellows on here -they have been chosen to assist in creating a meaningful and respectful environment here for all of us and to encourage discussion. They are all master teachers in their own locations.

May I invite other educators to join?

Anyone with a background in education is allowed to join.

You are welcome to invite your educator friends with the same link you

used to get in: https://discord.gg/ufV6sCQbe4

What else should I know about the GEA Chat Channel?

This channel is best used with the app form. You may easily download from your designated App Store. This will allow you to post and receive public messages to and from other educators but also communicate in REAL TIME with individuals you have found here for collaborative projects or further sharing of ideas.

We have created groups for all of our past alumni. We encourage our past participants to discuss various topics, from program logistics to program topics before, during and after our programs.

There is an option to communicate over text or voice! You can find the voice channel on the left hand margins.

How do I communicate with other educators on the GEA Channel?

There are many ways in which you can communicate, once in the GEA chat portal! These are:

  • With the whole group over text within specific program groups that you attended, or are about to attend

  • Teacher to teacher over text or audio within specific program groups that you attended, or are about to attend

  • With a whole group over text within a specific topic group

  • Teacher to teacher over text or audio within a specific topic group

In short, this chat room is for...

  • Connecting with new and old program members and partners through communal discussions

  • Sharing ideas on teaching and learning

This chat room is not for...

  • Any kind of soliciting, including fundraising outside of official GEA fundraisers
