Join the Global Education Allies Chat Room!

Welcome to the Global Education Allies communication portal! You can now connect with a slowly growing number of educators everywhere. We hope you share your ideas and questions and even collaborate on projects.

Logging into the Global Education Allies chat channel:

The GEA chat channel has been built inside a communication platform called Discord. Some of you may know this tool already. For those of you who are less familiar with it, please scroll to the bottom of the page to find detailed instructions on how to access our server, with pictures!

The link to access our GEA Discussion channel:

Asking questions in one of the discussion groups:

We have provided 5 discussion groups with general topics to help you choose the group that most closely aligns with your question. The “general discussion” group serves as the discussion group for anything not listed in other groups.

You can navigate to the different channels on the left to publish your first question/comment. If you need guidance you may send a message to one of the GEA admin or staff members. Look out for our TEACHER COLLABORATION FELLOWS on here -they have been chosen to assist in creating a meaningful and respectful environment here for all of us and to encourage discussion. They are all master teachers in their own locations.

Inviting other educators to join:

ANYONE WITH A BACKGROUND IN EDUCATION IS ALLOWED TO JOIN -you are welcome to invite your educator friends with the same link you used to get in:

More ideas on how to make the GEA chat channel work most efficiently:

This channel is best used with the app form you may easily download from your designated App Store. This will allow you to post and receive public messages to and from other educators but also communicate in REAL TIME with individuals you have found here for collaborative projects or further sharing of ideas.

We have also created groups for all of our past alumni, should they want to discuss their experiences on the different GEA programs they have attended.

You may communicate within groups or individually, over text or voice with the educators you connect with on our GEA chat channel. You can find the voice channel on the left hand margins.

GEA Chat Room Rules!

Please be respectful when communicating with other educators and be mindful of the different languages, cultures, ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations and religions your fellow teachers around the world may celebrate.

We support all meaningful questions and comments and will not tolerate rude behavior or solicitations of any kind (unless they are for pre-approved fundraising or volunteer opportunities). Please limit the sharing of links to ones that abide by the rules of this platform.

In short:

-Connecting with new and old program members and partners through communal discussions

-Sharing ideas on teaching and learning

This chat room is not for:

-Any kind of soliciting, including fundraising outside of official GEA fundraisers
